Rights in Black and White

Councilor Jim Stauber sent me this short email this afternoon.

The right to vote in secret without disclosure to anyone is held sacred. Associate United States Supreme Court Justice Hugo L. Black stated “No right is more precious in a free country than that of having a voice in (an election) … Other rights, even the most basic, are illusory if the right to vote is undermined.”

Black is one of my favorite Supreme Court Justices. He was a member of the Ku Klux Klan. He made up for that on the Court.
