While all sensible Minnesota snakes are in hibernation I can report that the Florida snakes are managing quite nicely. We came across this corn snake yesterday when we took a little walk along limestone creek trail not far from my Father-in-law’s house. Not knowing my snakes all that well I thought this might be a copperhead. It as a pretty thing about thirty inches long. It was lying on a concrete path along our way and not in the grass.
Claudia, who has had a phobic reaction to snakes ever since she pulled a drowned gartner out of her washer as a kid, hurried on past the slitherer while I tried to get a good picture for later identification.
Its always a little surreal to bump around Florida this time of year and then go to the news to see how cold it is back in Duluth. It almost makes me feel guilty.
