After the Civil War 3 – My mistake/s

There are two things I’ve said and written that I now know are wrong after meeting with the Superintendent.

In my current flyer I wrote that the referendum will cost most of us a couple hundred dollars. That suggested an annual cost. It was way too high.
A quarter million dollar house, in my home’s assessment range, would see an increase of about $60.

When I pointed out the increases in the cost of the Red Plan from its initial reported estimate of $257 million I pointed out the two new eight lane pools. Gronseth furrowed his eyebrows at this and pointed out that our district has always had swimming as part of our middle/Junior high school curriculum. He said, and I suspect he’s right. that two new six lane pools were always part of the red Plan. What changed was the decision to make them 8 lane pools suitable for competitions. That would mean they weren’t suddenly added when Judy Seliga-Punyko defeated me six years for the school board. Made bigger yes. I can’t pin the entire cost to Dixon’s giving Judy a prize for defeating me.

That doesn’t change the fact that the plan kept getting bigger on Dixon’s steroids but fair is fair. I was wrong.

I’m sure that if and when I get on the inside again I’ll discover other similar mistakes and feel obligated to own up to them. My embarrassments will be a small price to pay to set our public schools on a course to discover new worlds.
