Hooray! Three candidates at least. Four if I file:
Former Congressman Rick Nolan had 1,566 votes in the Feb. 7 caucus. Jeff Anderson had 1,038 and Clark got 419. It’s likely that all three will be on the primary ballot in August.
Clark said there are 80,000 voters to consider rather than the 3,000 votes in the caucus.
The Clark campaign has repeatedly said it would abide by the endorsement process at the convention, but only if it was fair. With a low turnout at the caucus in February, Clark said there wasn’t enough representation through that process to adequately pick a candidate.
“I intend to talk with people who are participating” in the convention, she said.
Her written announcement Thursday said she intends to reach out to voters who feel “disenfranchised and disillusioned.”
“The stakes are too high to let politics and process override the voice of the people,” she wrote.
Right on Tarryl! To argue otherwise would be to say that Jim Oberstar’s election in 1974 was a travesty. Although Ralph Doty did write that Jim’s running in the primary despite promising not to was dishonorable.
