Bookin it 11

My apologies. First for making you wait so long for a new Bookin it post. Second for the drivel in the preceding ones. It can’t be helped. As the writer I look at my output with a microscope which would give anyone else eye strain.

I’m sure I’ve explained previously that when I don’t write much in the blog that’s a good sign I’m working on the book. That’s true of the past several days. However, I’ve been doing research much more than I’ve been doing any writing. I conducted an interview of sorts last week in St. Paul. That led to a suggestion for new written source material. I then had time to go through about half of that material and photocopy some that I could bring home to study at my leisure. Between them the reading and the interview led me to a conclusion with bright promise concerning a couple pages I’d typed recently and not quoted from for a Bookin it post because it didn’t fit into my current chapter outline.

It was the beginning of a chapter just hanging out in space. Yesterday I began doing some internet research and found a wealth of material that had some surprising connections with my books subject matter. It will require further research on Minnesota banking laws but that should be well worth my time.

I got a little short of four pages written today and rough as they are I was very pleased with them and where I expect they will take me. I rather enjoy picking out passages from my daily output to intrigue my readers hoping that they will throw everyone off the trail so here, with the usual caveat, is today’s sample:

Sheriff Brown kept the peace in St. Paul during the rough gin soaked Era of Prohibition in a most unusual way. He had an unwritten agreement with the gangsters and Mafioso around the nation. As long as they did not commit any heinous crimes in his City he would insure that St.Paul’s notorious guests would not be harassed or inconvenienced. As a result St. Paul was a popular place for the FBI’s most wanted.
