Day after a pleasing post

Perhaps it was two glasses of white wine while I watched the final two episodes of the Crown or perhaps it was the dawning realization from practicing French that by the end of the year I expect to be a pretty competent French speaker. Whatever the reason It took me until 3:45 to finally fall asleep last night. I woke up late checked the news for links to share in this my one sure blog post today. That gives me thirty minutes till noon a very last start on this Saturday. I’m pretty stoked. Between Thursday’s rough draft and yesterdays polishing I think I crafted a pretty good column for next Thursday’s Duluth Reader. What makes a good column for me? Being able to read it a few weeks later or a few years for that matter and liking what I wrote. That’s my measure. It will be a good week if I can add enough rough drafts for several future weeks of Reader columns while continuing to put a booklet together, the first of many more to come I hope, to share my complicated views of a world I know so much better than the Trump pocket lint candidate I hope to wrestle to the ground in the Republican primary next August.

I lost a little time before beginning today’s post because I fell into reading reactions to a new Atlantic Magazine article about why people are leaving Church. One of the commentators contradicted a long string of people talking about what a home their own church was with a short, punchy and charming dismissal…..something like I love my “sky daddy.” I wanted to comment on that as an agnostic without censure and tried to link a recent column to send the sky daddy teasing reply. Unfortunately, after finding my column about a Christmas pageant I couldn’t get back to the Facebook page to send its link to the skeptic. But I read it again and decided it was a good column, good fitting my criteria spelled out in the first paragraph here. I hope in a couple weeks time I’ll be able to say the same of the column I sent to the Reader yesterday.

BTW I got a lift a week ago at the supermarket when a women recognized me and told me she enjoyed my columns. I’m pretty sure she had the Christmas Pageant column in mind. She liked my sharing family life and I liked that because I intend to share more of it as I campaign for Congress. Although let me say that what I feel freest to share happened years ago. I tipsy-toe around the present where my family is concerned because they deserve some freedom from prying eyes and to be frank the people who love Donald Trump love their guns and love to send stark threats of murder and mayhem to anyone who looks at their pussygrabbing God with crossed eyes or their tongue sticking out. That is the state of the pocket lint candidate of the Republican party who dare not trifle with the lunatic fringe that Trump has fertilized with more Bullshit than anyone ever imagined could come out of America. The latest person with his head up Trump’s ass is the compelling Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina. No one survives as a Republican if they dare to be honest about what a POS the leader of their party is. “If Trump faces Biden I can’t vote for Biden. Tim Scott plans to endorse Trump for president in New Hampshire : NPR”

I’m getting pretty sick of the anemic protest…..“Well Trump is horrible but I’ll vote for him because God Forbid the awful President Biden is far worse”. Only Cretans could think that…Cretans and republican candidates.

Of the half dozen emails I sent myself after taking in the News from NPR and the NYTimes two stories and a movie review included these:

Why Namibia invoked a century-old German genocide in international court

In the new Afghanistan, it’s sell your daughter or starve

‘Occupied City’ Review: Mapping the Holocaust, Street by Street

And these are hasty roughed out thoughts that I might tackle later:

Thinking of Bebe Netanyahu – Can people who elect and reelect a man carrying out a different version of a pogram/diaspora/génocide be excused on technicalities?

and

Suspicious and resentful white America already turned down the first reparations law by canning Affirmative Action a much cheaper solution to reparations

and regarding the Tim Scott announcement he can’t vote for Biden…….But I can vote for a serial rapist, liar, cheat and dictator lover who threatens other Republicans with the possibility of sic’ing extremist gun owners whose minds he controls like a fungus on them and their families AND who tried to overthow the first presidential election in American history. Despite the improving economy, the sanity, the better relations with our allies and the Trump devil worshipers in Congress trying to make America fly to pieces Joe Biden is old and not half as fun as the narcissist ex-president we are afraid to contradict because Trump’s changed the GOP into a witches brew of nastiness and self righteousness. We want to represent America the home of the Brave!!!!!!
