The Great British Baking show – play nice fiercely Democrats

With four days ahead of me to write up a storm only my five or six posts from yesterday have attempted to fulfill that desire. Today I’ve spent more time working on French and reading stories in the NYTimes and WPost several of which bear mentioning…..which is true nearly every day. At lunch Claudia and I spent a second day in a row watching my wife’s favorite show if you don’t count the murder mysteries from British television she consumes in massive quantity. That show is the British bake off…..I’ve been watching it with her for several years at least as far back as the lead up the to the 2020 midterms. In 2019 when fear first gripped Democrats that the new proto fascism of the GOP’s far-out right was going to tank them again after their close shave with Biden I used the Brit series in a political metaphor contrasting it with the American version of psycho cooking. The column offered as a sympathetic Republican to Dems was titled The Democrat’s Choice. And guess what its the same choice as the last two elections and I still suggest as 2024 approaches that anyone wishing to nail Trump into his vampiric coffin follow that same advice.

That advice comes three paragraphs down and is as follows:

As the 2020 election creeps closer Democrats are torn between fighting President Donald John Trump or fighting among themselves. It would be this Republican’s suggestion they that they follow the example of Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry.
It won’t be easy. Herding cats never is. No one knew that better than the Depression’s Will Roger’s who declared, “I don’t belong to any organized political party. I’m a Democrat!”
