I called the Memorial Blood Center today to cancel my blood donation scheduled for next week. Because of my recent heart attack I am on some serious blood thinners for at least the next six months.
I asked the scheduler if he could tell me how many donations I’d made up to this point and he told me 119 pints. He added that I was just one pint short of three five gallon pails. “I could paint my house with that.” I replied. Shortly afterward I told my wife and her reaction was not unexpected. “Gross,” she said.
I wrote a column in the Reader to celebrate my 100 donation a few years ago. You can read it here.
