After a summer of zipping my lips….

…about a great many things that weren’t related to a campaign for Congress and another month of inactivity blog wise I’m both mentally relaxed and bursting with things left unsaid.

As with my bathroom spiders many of the ideas are eccentric but I’ll mention the first book I’ve read through in some time. I just finished reading Isabel Wilkerson’s book Caste out loud to Claudia. I had previously read her Pulitzer winner Warmth of Other Suns to Claudia covering the Great Migration. This book was equally worthwhile. It contained a few anecdotes that were new, some new insights and in many ways it said a lot of the things on my mind but which I am only witness to as a member of the white upper crust.

It is powerful motivation to get writing again but I’m now preparing for it by getting some long put off jobs around the house out of the way. I jut got an estimate for fixing up some damage from the boulder a city snow plow shoved into the corner of my garage last winter. For a sort of small task its a little rich so I may spend a day fixing it myself. Meanwhile I started putting a long overdue new coat of stain on the fences around my back yard. The color is no longer made and I used an ancient can of Valspar Greenstone after several hours of sanding the fencing. Now I’m out of it and need more for some different segments of wall. It was a nice day to work although we had a California overcast which cooled us off a couple degrees. California has been giving my brother in St. Louis has been getting red skies out of the Edvard Munch painting the Scream. Although it was a recent volcanic eruption that blooded artist Munch’s skies.

Sorry, that’s all I have for my eight loyal readers. I just wanted to assure you that you have not been forgotten.
