Just Mercy

Apropos everything about the last two weeks Claudia had me watch a book she has raved about for some time. Just Mercy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just_Mercy

Its based on a true story, actually only one of a great many in the book that took place in 1987. That was the year I lost my job, my Dad died and we moved into our home on east fourth street in Duluth. I may have missed quite a few news items that year.

But when the movie went to actual footage of one of my old Sunday Standby’s CBS’s Sixty Minutes and I saw good old Ed Bradley interviewing cuts of the actor playing the protagonist (in the Forrest Gump style) and it took me back. Going on that show is how the black Harvard educated attorney got the nation’s attention at the stacked deck that convicted blacks time and again because nobody cared if they were innocent.

Years later 140 convicted prisoners have been exonerated by the organization the attorney joined.
