Got this email this morning:
Your posting from the guy who disagrees with you fails to look at other variables. Many factors create chaos and resentment.
1) Teachers are frustrated at Woodland (a recent sub said would never return there)Their jobs are an unknown, not only if they will have one but where and what will they teach. Kids packed in classrooms. Can’t speak freely about the district’s plan.
2) Students also don’t know where they will be going, up in the air, feel the tension, friends at other schools. Looking at their neighborhood schools being torn down, giving the impressin that what they valued was a piece of worthless junk.
3) And the parents. Financial distress. Treated poorly by the district, threatened by severe cuts if they don’t give them more money. Concerned about their kids’s safety in overcrowded, chaotic schools.
Putting the figures out there makes it pretty clear that something is going on.
Parents control their environment by moving theire children to other schools, out of the district. Some don’t have that choice and so the kids vent in other ways.
I remember the man out in Piedmont attending a City Council mtg telling them that the district’s map was wrong, that some property the district was telling them was theirs was actually his. They have been mistreating this guy from the beginning. And they start bulldozing without agreements from him or the church? Arrogance or stupidity?
