Cider

There are at least three things that I desperately need to do this weekend for the cause as I wrap up two years fighting for justice.

I should put up the 1000 lawnsigns I bought. I should raise money for the TV ad I just helped produce. I should peddle the book while people might be interested in purchasing it before the election.

I won’t be doing any of these things despite the uncomfortable pressure I feel in my chest that has been aggravating me for the past month with greater urgency as the election nears.

As I crammed my Bulldog Pizza Cheeseburger into my mouth last night my wife cautioned me “slow down.” I always used to joke that I didn’t feel stress – I gave it to other people. Well these days I’m giving it to myself. Who knows how much arterial damage I’ve caused.

Through much of the summer and fall I have forced myself to abandon the campaign on weekends. Oh, like right now, early on a Saturday or Sunday morning as my wife sleeps I might blog a bit. I might check my email around lunch time or even listen to or reply to an anxious phone message when no one’s looking. Mostly, however, I’ve tried very hard to limit my war path to the eight hours my wife is at work. But that’s only my body. Its not my head. That’s still suffering from the addiction.

Last weekend’s therapy was pumpkins. This weekend it will be apples.

These are the honey crisps I harvested from my daughter’s back yard. A friend has offered me a bushel of Cortlands and I’m hoping to sneak some Harrelson’s from a neighbor. I ordered a cider press which was delivered this week and we’re making cider today. I’ve bought some instruction books and I’m hoping to stick the Duluth Schools in the back of my head. That will be easy if the Tan Man is present and dancing around the apples. When he’s around my chest feels fine.

So, if anything else happens of interest you, my faithful readers, you may just have to wait a bit to read my take. That’s kind of too bad. I wish I had a 24 hour news service in me. The more I blog the more visitors I get. Hits trailed off when I went into radio silence during the attorney dismissal days of August. They’ve been coming back. Yesterday I had 2000 hits. In July I routinely had those kind of numbers but since then I’ve only had one other 2000 hit day, Sept. 15th, the day of the primary election.

I should get a couple more days like that before the General Election. Then I’m leaving town for a couple weeks to get the Red Plan out of my head and my heart. When I return it will be my book not my blog that will get the most attention. Order it now.
