I’ve got more to rant about after last night’s meeting. Ranting can be very therapeutic.
At the much hyped and little covered DNT candidate’s forum which I really should have attended some interesting questions were asked and even more interesting answers given out.
Like this one?
How big is the School District’s budget?
That’s a simple question. When I was elected to the Board in 1995 the answer would have been about one hundred million. It grew over time but I’ve always kept that figure in mind partly because we had instituted a policy of keeping a ten percent reserve which could be used to earn interest of about a million a year which we poured into the budget. 100 million budget – 10 million reserve – 1 million interest. I still throw those archaic numbers around because they are so simple to remember.
But the budget has grown to about $146 million now. So when one of the cheeky challengers said that the budget was about $110 million (a figure he could have gotten from listening to me with my old frame of reference) the two incumbents present Mary Cameron and Laura Condon both quickly added that this was about right. In fact, these two stewards of the public purse who recently won endorsements from the Nip and Tuck were off by over 30%. That’s OK. These incumbents passed resolutions giving Dr. Dixon dictatorial powers to make all spending decisions and they were only endorsed by the DNT because of their blind loyalty to the Red Plan.
Copying your answers from another student during a test is generally frowned upon. As for copying them from a student who is wrong …….! And Laura Condon is a teacher. And Mary Cameron is finishing her Doctorate in Education.
No wonder Dr. Dixon wants these incumbents reelected!
No wonder the Nip and Tuck didn’t bother reporting on the forum they wasted so much ink hyping!
