Editorials written by the District’s PR Dept.

I don’t have much time to respond to this nonsense right now.

The Trib’s editorial staff has slowly and timidly been suggesting that the Red Plan is hunky dory over the past couple of weeks. Now they are giving cover to the City’s Planning Commission to OK construction on the Ordean site. JCI and contractors have slowly been stacking the deck on the Commission to make it Red Plan friendly over the past couple years. After Grant Merritt pointed out that it was the City Council that had the final authority on issues like the development of Ordean someone got the City Council to give this power up to the non-elective Planning Commission. If the Commission OK’s this site without ordering an Environmental Impact Study and it gets built as a result it will be regretted by this City for the next fifty years.

The fact is that a new school board will almost certainly decide to drop the plan to turn Ordean into a high school even if its gutted and and keep Central High as Duluth’s second high school. That will mean that the District’s interior demolition of Ordean, which was pushed ahead a year to deny a new school board the chance to intervene, will be a huge, unnecessary expense for taxpayers.

I recall the Trib telling us that the Aquarium would be a great boon to Duluth too. Par for the course.
