Speaking of not telling the Board

This story in last week’s Trib “Plan for separate sixth-grade school deep-sixed” announced the District’s plans.

Mind you the School Board has not voted on this. That’s unnecessary for this Board because the Board has given the Administration the power to make all the decisions as Gary Glass notes in his letter to the editor today:

Duluth School Board members have ignored policies and relinquished authority to Superintendent Keith Dixon to do what he wishes in implementing the $407 million red plan without a public vote. . . Relinquishment occurred June 19, 2007, with the authorization of the red plan, the resolution stating: “Commence any other appropriate action to implement this Long-range Facilities Plan.”

Yup, Its sort of like those old westerns where the cowboys have to put their holsters and guns in the corner when they come into a court room or a church. Only in this case the Board members just put their brains in a big bucket until their term of office is over.
