I’m not unhappy with the Trib’s spare account of our organizational meeting. As a participant I found it especially interesting. One detail not mentioned was my four nominations of Alanna Oswald once for each of the four officer positions as they came up in order. She got three votes for each from Chair to Vice Chair to Clerk to Treasurer. It took four to win. Those reading Loren Martell’s most recent column can tell he has warmed to her greatly and with good reason. She’s a keeper.
Although Art Johnston was disappointed his motion to end our engagement of the Rupp law firm didn’t succeed it was tabled after a thoughtful discussion. I argued that it was hard for me to trust them after my three year’s experience of being frozen out of communication with them.
For us it was a short meeting and one not usually televised. To my surprise and delight it was recorded for broadcast and came in at just over an hour. I shook hands with our new Chair and my recent seatmate, Dr. David Kirby, as he left my side to take over the Chair’s chair in the center of the Dais. He did a fine job.
During our final resolution on Civility near the end I asked a “hypothetical” question about Board member behavior. Only member Johnston offered some thoughts. I wonder if Mr. Martell thought enough took place to be worthy of a Reader column? If so, it should be interesting.
