…or at least that seems to be what some of my colleagues on the School Board would prefer.
Three of us on the Board applied the state statutory guarantee of placing a subject of our choosing on the next school board agenda for a second time. The subject we have in mind discussing is the potential sale of unused schools to a second school system. We have been told that this statute will be subverted in following manner: A resolution will be offered to discuss this issue at our next meeting which would allow a majority of School Board members to vote against allowing the discussion to take place.
How ingenious. That sounds like an argument that Donald Trump’s favorite lawyer, Roy Cohn, would have made back when he was working with Senator Joeseph McCarthy. Roy also did his best to help keep black people out of Trump’s apartments.
I was not told about this interview last Friday on Almanac North. Fortunately, an alert viewer sent me the link just now. From the one minute mark to the 13 minute mark Chair Harala restates her position that the School Board has ratified the no sale of schools to other schools policy. This is not true, however, it serves as her justification for letting four months slip by without informing the rest of the School Board that new offers were on the table.
