I have often mentioned the Timberjay. That’s the tough little newspaper that fought JCI and the marginally competent School Administration of the St. Louis County Schools all the way to the State Supreme Court and won. Well, the owners of a rival rural paper that defended a School Building project, not unlike our Red Plan, have taken the Timberjay to court because they no longer can survive on the School District Advertising which kept them afloat through the controversy.
The rival paper’s owners purchased a minority share of the Timberjay years ago and should expect something for their investment but it seems that pique is as much a part of the suit as their investment. They want the Timberjay dismantled and sold off. In any event locals have come to the Timberjay’s aid and made donations to cover their paper’s legal expenses from the attack. I just made a small donation to the defense fund as well. A serious newspaper is a precious thing and I’d encourage my readers to join me. Here’s the link to the defense fund.
And here’s the link to the Jay where you can review their coverage of the conflict.
