Two Harbors

Today the electrical inspector dropped by. I had another shake your head conversation about the Red Plan.

He lives in Two Harbors and told me the voters were tricked into voting for the new High School. It died in the first two votes then the School Board set up an election requiring all the voters to come to two locations rather than their usual precincts. Having made it tough for elderly voters the third time was the charm barely.

So, rather than spending $4 million to fix up the old High School they made a “Cadillac” because students would be attracted to it.

The inspector told me kids wear their coats in class because to save money the keep the heat down so far. The pool is closed because they can’t afford to heat it. When I reported that JCI was kicked out of the District the Superintendent sent me an angry letter demanding that I remove the comment and threatening to sic the District’s lawyers on me if I didn’t. (And he was hoping to attract new students?) He said JCI left because the District could no longer afford them. Well, Duh.

I know that the local school superintendents like to stick together. I’ve always wondered If Dr. Dixon suggested he try to scare me. That’s the kind of thing Faribault folks told me Dixon used to do down there.
