Claudia and I decided to have lunch together this afternoon. We called our daughter to invite her. As a teacher she has her summer off. She thanked us but she had just baked a quiche which she was about to take to our son-in-law for his lunch. Our son-in-law has recently become addicted to Pokemon Go. This is a new phenomenon which I only discovered on Sunday when he took our grandsons on a walk to capture Pokemons.
Today, Claudia, who has read more stories about it than me, told me that it is an overnight $9 billion Internet wunderkind. No kidding!
We drove over to the new Canal Park restaurant the Cider House in the old Endion Station. We ordered a salad a pizza and beer. I got a Bent Paddle Lollygagger. We parked ourselves at a counter that gave us a perfect view of the Lake Walk. All through lunch we saw ample evidence of the impact of this flash in the pan – bent elbows.
We figured that about half of the folks walking, bicycling, surf boarding or even walking the dog must be looking for pokemons along their path. Just before we left I took a couple minutes to record this phenomenon with my cell. So, if you start noticing folks looking down at their cell phones instead of holding them to their ear you will have a pretty good idea what they are up to. Evidently there are a lot of Pokemons in Duluth. Our son-in-law even found one in our church’s sactuary.
