There was yet another letter criticizing the Duluth School Board in today’s DNT. Key lines:
“As I recall, it was 1966 when the board insisted we have a new Central, and the push was made for building on the top of the hill. That school was used for many years. Then the board decided to do it again with the Red Plan. Now, it seems, history is repeating itself with the School Board deciding against the will of the people again.”
I often remark that any school board (or any elective body for that matter) is always saddled with the sins of its past. Our current school board is in the process of saddling its successors yet again with the decisions its making today. I used to carry a school board business card with Santayana’s observation that “Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” It had a picture of my gorilla, “Phil,” on the other side.
This will be on my mind as I write up another post or two today. But first, I must attend to personal matters.
BTW – A hearty welcome to all my new (or returning) readers.
