I may have led the Trib’s online news but in its paper version the setting of next year’s levy was on the first page of the local section while my recall story was on page two.
Any voter reading could have little doubt about what the levy will mean in terms of taxation.
“Residents’ pockets will get heavier or lighter depending on the results of an operational levy up for a referendum in November that will ask voters to either renew the operational levy at its current value – about $365 per pupil – or raise it, said Bill Hanson, business director for the Duluth school district.
If it fails, people will end up paying less in property taxes to the Duluth school district next year. If it passes, taxes will go up, Hanson said.”
