The Bakk Bill

The Trib’s latest story on the progress of the Jaros Bill. Its now Tom Bakk’s wording which gets rid of our chance to hold a referendum but does clip the wings of the District. It puts an arbitray cap of $125 million for borrowing on the lease levy which the Red Plan had hoped to peg at $171 million. This is one of three pots of money the District would tap to pay for the full $293 million ($407 counting interest). Dr. Dixon’ new Group DDMFD “Damn Democracy, Move Forward Duluth” is lobbying furiously against it.

Since its something of a halfway measure between our sides it will probably eventually prevail. For those who’d like to send poor Senator Bakk an opinion you can email him here.
