What Jefferson said about equal treatment

A recent email correspondent thanked me and asked me how I make it though school board meetings like our last one. On Fri., Sept 19 I explained how:

I get through the meeting because folks like you give me some hope that I may be an exception to Twain’s appraisal of school boards.

My correspondent replied:

Well, you can throw back at Mern with his insistence of kids filling out the same form with Thomas Jefferson’s quote:

There is nothing more unequal than the equal treatment of unequal people.”

Later she emailed one more gem:

In the signature of all of my district emails was another quote by George Evans to remind people our students are not little conforming robots:

Every student can learn, just not on the same day, or the same way.
