Dixon Welty meeting – canceled

After the Debate I had a cordial conversation with Dr. Dixon. He had suggested that we could get together and I took him up on the suggestion. He may only have made the offer because he was in the presence of our interviewers Pat Kelly and Barbara Reyelts. We carried out our conversation into the parking lot and he told me he would have his secretary call me and set up a meeting.

I waited about a week and sent him an email indicating I was still waiting for the call. I got it the next day and we set up our meeting for a week later – April 8th. The day before the meeting I found a message waiting for me from the secretary saying Dr. Dixon had to cancel. There was no indication that it would be rescheduled so I called back and left a message indicating that I’d be willing to reschedule. No one has called back.

I’ve just heard that a local reporter asked both Dixon and Board Chair Nancy Nilson whether they would be willing to meet with the opposition to see if a compromise could be worked out. After much hemming and hawing the question was directed to Nancy asking for a yes or no. Nancy said “no.” So much for dialogue. You don’t have to fuss with that when you have dictatorial power.
