Here’s a little calculation. If the Red Plan costs are $437,000,000 and Duluth has 10,000 students that means, divide the bigger figure by the smaller…..Ah, that’s easy enough. It means we will be spending $47,000 per student over the next twenty years for new buildings.
Now lets see, if Duluth has 10,000 students and the state, as a whole, has 800,000 students. and we multiply our spending per student on the Red Plan, by all 800,000 Minnesota students we come up with…Well, well. $35 billion in spending over the next twenty years.
That’s a lot of public indebtedness. How many other cities would follow Duluth’s suit if they were given half a chance? Did the state legislature really mean for this to happen?
