Rosie’s Sharp Elbows

Rosie Loeffler-Kemp has been our Clerk for the past year- and-a-half meaning that she shares the private meetings with the Superintendent that determine our Board agendas which have been so controversial since I got elected in 2013. At our Tuesday meeting when three of us kvetched about not getting satisfactory information on the budget beforehand […]

Rosie’s Hardball

(This post was first conceived as: MAJ 7 Rosie’s Hardball on April 9, 2015) At our closed school board meetings Rosie Loeffler-Kemp regularly says to no one in particular, words to this effect, that she hopes everything we’ve discussed is understood to be confidential. I’ve always taken this to be an unsubtle warning about her […]

Rosie’s Certified Mail

Two weeks ago I composed a letter addressed to the five majority members of the Duluth School Board. It contained two motions I was contemplating introducing at the School Board meeting. The first was a motion to reimburse Art Johnston for his legal bills – bills that they had forced upon him in their hatred. […]

MAJ 2 – Rosie

This post and the next will reference small interactions that too place in the closed session but which, in my estimation, do not give away anything related to data privacy. Member Rosie Loeffler-Kemp spoke earnestly about the need to keep the meetings discussion confidential. She has done this in other closed sessions almost always with […]

Rosie’s Criminal Background Check…

…of Art Johnston. “The investigation was brought forward because of Art Johnston’s violent abusive and harassing and threatening behaviors,” School Board Member Rosie Loeffler-Kemp I wonder if Duluth School Board Clerk Rosie Loeffler-Kemp thought Art Johnston was abusive on the several occasions he urged her to run for the Duluth School Board. It’s funny how […]

Visiting Rosie’s training camp

I will make a brief appearance at Rosie Loeffler-Kemp’s citizen action workshop tomorrow. I used to attend it when I was last on the School Board. It starts at nine tomorrow, (Sat. Jan 25) at the Copper Top Church. I’ve got a grandson’s birthday party to attend to so I’ll make my appearance brief.

Why was Rosie left out?

Another letter in the DNT today from one school board member endorsed Nancy Nilsen, an architect of the Red Plan, and Annie Harala. I would have thought the endorsements might have been an act of solidarity with women candidates but for the absence of a similar endorsement for Rosie Loeffler-Kemp. I mentioned in the previous […]

A Win for Equity in Duluth

The Duluth School Board is off to a strong start. Last night the new board swept aside Supt. Gronseth’s and David Kirby’s and Rosie Loeffler-Kemp’s objection to fairly distributing the Compensatory Ed funding.. It was important that Member Sandstad brought the motion and that it only started with an 80% figure for schools “earning” the […]

“Dear Fellow Sufferers”

The paper version of the DNT today ended its extensive letters to the editor with an unintentionally funny critique of me from a Mr. Paul Podemski. Sadly I can’t find it in the online version but while looking for Mr. Podemski I discovered that he and his wife wrote a glowing letter endorsing Jill Lofald […]

The blame game

The public is about to get two really grim reports about the finances of the Duluth Schools in coming days. I’ll give my eight loyal readers advance notice of one of these issues here tonight as it has already been reported to investors everywhere. But first, After my first two years with Red Plan Status […]

The Trib – today

Time for me to door knock again but first a nod to the Trib. Art was treated fairly in the Front page story about his campaign and it struck me that he hit all the concerns that I know have been driving western parents out of the western schools. And the other District Seat, far […]

Ho Hum

The Tribune’s editors continue in their dreary analysis and endorsements. Rosie Loeffler-Kemp who was a major reason for the ugliness that cost me an endorsement is apparently not to be faulted. That’s not all the Trib’s editors are turning a blind eye to. They faulted the DFL for endorsing candidates but they have so far […]
