The first week after the bond amt. was announced we scratched our collective heads. The second week Harry Welty, the primary fundraiser, left town on a vacation. Our first ad hit the Reader Weekly Thursday, June 18th. We started with $8,500 in the bank which we are not counting toward this goal as it is our seed corn for further fundraising. We sowed $2,000 of the seed corn for ads in three publications this week. That leaves $6,500 to be used for mailings, spaghetti dinners and other fundraising activities or the bond if any is left over.
I’m not counting three $1,000 pledges that have been made but which have not yet collected including one from Harry Welty. We need $10,000 a day to finish with the full $100,000. We’ll have to do a little better. It will be like one of those Public Radio fundraisers.
We’ve had over 2,000 contributors so far. If they all contribute again we’ll be fine although they will have to dig a little deeper in their pockets this time. And donors seem to be digging. The biggest check I recall receiving before today was for $500. There were three one-thousand dollar checks waiting for us in the PO Box.
Send your check and a pledge today.
