On April 14, 1992 The Duluth School Board voted to close Duluth Central High School. Unlike the occasional cat calls at the last Duluth School Board meeting 4/21/2009 the crowd reaction in 1992 was such that it forced the premature adjournment of the school board meeting. At a subsequent meeting a new Mayor with a name Ralph Doty might recognize led the same crowd (you might have called him a “ring leader”) in demanding that Central High remain open. The Mayor got his way.
I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that Ralph Doty thinks that Duluth City officials should mind their own business where the Duluth Schools are concerned.
