We would\u00c2\u00a0stay five\u00c2\u00a0nights in the country home of Drs. Hans and Martha Aas of Duluth.<\/p>\n<p>Originally built\u00c2\u00a0by the state in the late 1800&#8217;s after the government expropriated the\u00c2\u00a0estates of the largest landholders the Aas&#8217;s purchased the\u00c2\u00a0farm after graduating from the\u00c2\u00a0university in Aarhus back in the 1960&#8217;s. We\u00c2\u00a0bid on a stay at the farmstead at a\u00c2\u00a0benefit auction for the Bong Memorial Museum last year.<\/p>\n<p>A couple days later our daughter and son-in-law came to visit for two nights before journeying on to Berlin and some sort of music festival.<\/p>\n<p>Every night a small herd of cattle came by to pay us a visit just before their milking. This one made\u00c2\u00a0me wince\u00c2\u00a0since it looked ready to explode.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/90\/246630846_8ca809d3d0_m.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On our children&#8217;s second\u00c2\u00a0evening of their\u00c2\u00a0visit\u00c2\u00a0we took the kids\u00c2\u00a0for a\u00c2\u00a0stroll on the beach where we found a local fisherman.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/98\/246764750_f5cded27db_m.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Earlier that day we took them to visit Aalborg and the Viking cemetary where, from the 6th to the 12th century, ornery Viking stole each other&#8217;s headstones whenever some new Viking had to be buried.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/98\/246750372_a1517ab721_m.jpg\" \/>\u00c2\u00a0 <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/97\/246750370_f9e07ceb64_m.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It wasn&#8217;t only the Vikings that revered nautical themes. In the Kirke (church) of Strandby we found ships suspended from\u00c2\u00a0its 12th century ceiling.
