If <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wtvr.com\/news\/politics\/la-pn-santorum-bashes-public-schools-says-theyre-stuck-in-factory-era-20120218,0,4309061.story\">Santorum<\/a> is his children&#8217;s teacher they will be better ideologues than Americans&#8230;&#8230;..just like their Dad.<\/p>\n<p>According to Mr. Sweater Vest:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Yes, the government can help,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d he continued, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153but the idea that the federal government should be running schools, frankly much less that the state government should be running schools, is anachronistic.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>He said it is an artifact of the Industrial Revolution, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153when people came off the farms where they did homeschool or had a little neighborhood school, and into these big factories \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 called public schools.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Homeschooling is a modern phenomenon. In olden days where there were no schools the rich hired tutors to educate their children.  The poor marked their signatures with an &#8220;x.&#8221; Check <a href=\"http:\/\/nces.ed.gov\/programs\/digest\/d10\/tables\/dt10_110.asp\">this chart<\/a> to see how many children were high school graduates in Rick&#8217;s good old days. <\/p>\n<p>The founder of the GOP, Abe Lincoln, got about a year&#8217;s worth of public schooling in his backwater home in an Era when about 3 of every 100 children had a high school education &#8211; factory or home. Lincoln was embarrassed all his life by his sorry education. I suspect Santorum&#8217;s words would not impress the Great Emancipator.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Not that I wouldn&#8217;t like them to change a little.
