She recommended I immediately read its beginning about John Wayne and the evangelical church. <\/p>\n<p>Well, this morning I found this review of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/religion\/2021\/07\/16\/jesus-and-john-wayne-evangelicals-surprise-bestseller\/\">&#8220;the surprise best seller&#8221;<\/a> in the Washington Post.<\/p>\n<p>So, I sent Claudia a link to the Post review and a link to a column I wrote in 2016 which I thought was appropriate even though she makes a habit of NOT reading anything I write. The column was titled: <a href=\"https:\/\/duluthreader.com\/articles\/2018\/03\/01\/110161-the-wayning-of-america\">The Wayning of America.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It is not to be confused with my column <a href=\"https:\/\/duluthreader.com\/articles\/2020\/03\/12\/114580-arizona-highways\">Arizona Highways<\/a> written in a similar vein.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/duluthreader.com\/uploads\/image\/article\/019\/821\/19821\/header_custom\/19821_16751_543_Welty_1092.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My Seminary graduate wife recently was amazed and revolted by this book which she took out of the Duluth Public Library.
