{"id":3036,"date":"2010-06-11T10:55:58","date_gmt":"2010-06-11T15:55:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lincolndemocrat.com\/?p=3036"},"modified":"2010-06-11T10:58:52","modified_gmt":"2010-06-11T15:58:52","slug":"im-not-the-only-one-with-a-beef","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lincolndemocrat.com\/?p=3036","title":{"rendered":"Guilt as a game for lawyers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For years I&#8217;ve been irritated that the criminal justice system is often more intersted in convictions than convicting the guilty.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slate.com\/id\/2256188\">Slate article<\/a> makes this point about the &#8220;adversarial&#8221; aspect of the system:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>There are times when neither the prosecution nor the defense is particularly interested in discovering the truth. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Remember this the next time you read about an innocent convict having the men and women who put him jail object to reopening the case. I think this would make a darned good law. Require that all DNA evidence be automatically analyzed.
