I kept my cell phone on all through my travels yesterday calling my fellow plaintiffs as I raced around getting last minute signatures on documents for the bond and our attorney and the bond company to make sure everything was properly arranged. I left it on and the juice must have drained pretty quickly as it searched for new signals so I could keep taking calls that never came.<\/p>\n
I missed one call a little after noon and returned it about an hour and a half later. It was from the Trib’s Ed reporter who must have read the blog and realized I was traveling down to pick up the bond. She left her number for me to call back. I did but she did not return my call. I suspect that since I pan the Trib’s coverage so often now, she’s lost her enthusiasm for checking in with me. Can’t say as I blame her. Advantage Katie Kaufman. Katie’s the Supt’s PR person. I hear that she can no longer mention my name without her lip curling into a sneer. Too bad. When I was on the Board we used to get along well.<\/p>\n
After a late night meal at the hot local tavern, where I spent my time staring at a mounted deer butt with two faux gold eyes on either side of the tail staring back at me, I realized the phone battery was almost dead. I made a quick call to my wife to let her know I was shutting the phone down to preserve what little juice was left. I may need to reactivate it for a call or two tomorrow.<\/p>\n
