Art was treated fairly in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.duluthnewstribune.com\/news\/4347575-lofald-johnston-diverge-issues-district-4-school-board-race\">the Front page story<\/a> about his campaign and it struck me that he hit all the concerns that I know have been driving western parents out of the western schools. <\/p>\n<p>And the other District Seat, far eastern <strong>District One<\/strong>, had its day in the Op Ed Page&#8217;s sun. <\/p>\n<p>My take: Rosie Loeffer-Kemp was all <a href=\"http:\/\/www.duluthnewstribune.com\/opinion\/local-view\/4347559-incumbents-view-quality-education-prepares-students-be-productive\">resume<\/a>. Kurt Kuehn was all <a href=\"http:\/\/www.duluthnewstribune.com\/opinion\/local-view\/4347568-candidates-view-budget-inequity-achievement-gap-pose-pressing-emergencies\">results<\/a>.  I&#8217;ll take results over resume any day. I hope the voters agree.<\/p>\n<p>And there was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.duluthnewstribune.com\/opinion\/4347553-readers-view-reject-red-plan-opponent-holdovers\">the letter-to-the-editor<\/a> calling Art and me &#8220;holdovers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The Red Plan opponent holdovers on the Duluth School Board continue to disrupt, discourage, disturb and distract from the need to address the inequities between schools.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Hell, its our kind that insists that &#8220;<em>the need to address the inequities between schools<\/em>,&#8221; NOT be papered over with platitudes. The true &#8220;holdovers&#8221; are folks like Rosie Loeffler-Kemp who sided with the Red Planners. She&#8217;s the last one left on the Board.<\/p>\n<p>Fixing what&#8217;s wrong with ISD 709 will not be easy because the candidates championed by this writer are the ones who traded <a href=\"http:\/\/lincolndemocrat.com\/?p=23407\">200 teachers for brand new schools<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Time for me to door knock again but first a nod to the Trib.
