“Less than a day after voters rejected a $55 million school bond issue, Duluth school Superintendent Elliot Moeser said yesterday a smaller building project may appear on the ballot this fall. Replacing of Washington Junior High School is a priority.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This was the year Tim Grover and I became allies as we tried to save Washington Jr. from the School Board. This bond referendum at $55 million was a lot smaller than the Red Plan. How much less? I took inflation into account and posted this <\/a>in October of 2007:<\/p>\n

It’s also been argued that the Red Plan’s colossal $293 million expense is simply inflation over 1989’s failed $55 million plan. This too is nonsense. We haven’t suffered from 500% inflation over the last 18 years. If you used 2006 dollars on 1989’s $55 million plan it would only cost Duluth $90.3 million dollars today.
