She didn’t leave early tonight.

It was humorous watching Sarah jump up and down for the last half hour as her story neared the deadline. She slipped out to make calls repeatedly from the hallway to call her confederates at the Trib to give them the latest update. At least that was my presumption.

Her story this morning was objective and bloodless. I think it contained one fairy tale – that Eminent Domain was only a possibility and that it might not be called on at all. So far the School Board has shown no qualms about eminent domain although last night they did wilt a bit in the face of so many people threatened by it.

Certainly Supt. Dixon has no qualms about getting what he wants despite the practiced empathy he flaunts much like the oyster eaters in Lewis Carrol’s Walrus and the Carpenter:

“I weep for you,” the Walrus said:
“I deeply sympathize.”
With sobs and tears he sorted out
Those of the largest size,
Holding his pocket-handkerchief
Before his streaming eyes.

My advice for the Ordean residents who heckled the Board last night – Remember the old Rhythm and Blues number Smiling Faces.

I twitted both the Board and the Trib’s underpaid and overworked educataion reporter, Sarah Horner, a couple days ago for exiting a school board…

[80
