Every post that sheds light on our Board in the name of honoring Twain’s dyspeptic take on school boards can’t help but hurt my chances of patching up the Board. I’m sure the board majority believes that “silence is golden.” But even the Superintendent has gotten into the act. Asked by the DNT about Art Johnston at the otherwise treacly annual report Mr. Gronseth tried to distance the School Board from the working of the school system it is elected to oversee.

While not a part of the report, Gronseth said later that the conflicts resulting from the School Board’s investigation against member Art Johnston for an abuse of authority accusation, among others, were unfortunate.

“We try not to let the functioning of the board affect how the district is run,” he said.

Sounds like the Superintendent is seconding Mark Twain here.

Ah, but like Dan Quayle’s potatoes Art Johnston has become the test of this Board. And woohoo, the DNT has finally announced the completion of the Rice Report.
