Ironies Abound #4

After the April School Board meeting in 1992 I had the same thoughts about the demeanor of the 1992 crowd that Ralph Doty expressed about the 2009 crowd’s demeanor. A year later I was running for the School Board and I expressed those feelings in a letter-to-the-editor. It was not very complimentary.

The letter was part of my unsuccessful campaign for the School Board. My letter pins the blame on James Holliday rather than the Mayor. Holliday and I were both vying for the same at-large seat. Holliday won. I lost.

Two years later, in 1995, I got elected and served with Rev. Holliday for a year before he left town for a new job. The two of us got along well despite my early criticism and I gave him a testimonial at his going away party in his Duluth Heights Church.
