Kashoo has geared its software to the needs of small businesses and was “designed for business owners. Not accountants.” The software’s features cover the needs of some small businesses, especially those looking for a basic, easy-to-use accounting solution with excellent customer support.
- Once you get above 50 transactions a month, other automated options become more attractive.
- We are using this software for a long time and I must say that the software has brought a great relief for the accounting team.
- One current shortcoming to note, however, is that there is only a mobile app for iOS, leaving Android users out in the cold for the time being.
- Kashoo’s bill pay screens provide similar tools and data related to accounts payable.
- Kashoo does not yet offer an Android app, though that edition is in the works.
Overall, Kashoo is reliable and affordable for most of the basics and a few double-entry accounting needs. The Lists feature in the older version of Kashoo has been replaced by a Contacts feature. The Contacts feature is where you can track all of the customers and vendors that you’re doing business with. You’ll also be able to view any transactions related to the customer or vendor there as well. You can also add any new bills from the Bills to Pay feature by clicking on the New tab, and attach any invoices or other information directly to the added bill.

For the curious there is a free 14-day trial, which at the time of writing also included the option of subscribing and receiving 3 months of the service for nothing too. Income (a.k.a. Revenue) is the money that a business receives from its normal business activities, like selling goods and services to its customers. Equity is perhaps the trickiest type of account to understand. Equity represents the money that has been invested into, made, and taken out of a business. Equity accounts that you may be familiar with are Owner’s Equity, Retained Earnings, and Dividends.
There is no option to directly pay a bill, but you can enter manual payments in this section as well. Kashoo is a cloud-based accounting application designed for small businesses. With an easily affordable price tag covering an unlimited number of users, it is easy to use and includes double-entry accounting capability. The company is very responsive and the software / apps have been solid. Once you have a project set up, it’s easy to track income and expenses associated with it. We’ll show you an example of entering both using the Income and Expenses page. I take my iPad with me and I can work on financial stuff in my studio or a cafe.
Lacks some of the bells and whistles of the ‘big boys’ in this space – like integrations with other services. That’s not something I need right now, but could be useful in the future. There’s power in that, but it’s not nearly as friendly-looking as Freshbooks, for example. No credit card is required, and you can cancel the plan at any time. I just received notification that the service will be going from a $50/yearly invoicing to a $200/yearly invoicing. But since I run a very tiny business, I don’t need anything else but the basics. And since $200 makes a significant impact on my families’ income, I’m looking elsewhere for a financial organization method.
Software Features
QuickBooks offers a payroll feature, which Kashoo doesn’t have available yet. Kashoo, unlike others in the industry who tend to have three, offers a single stand-alone package with all the available features.
Kashoo has been well-engineered and the real positive is that multiple users can also enjoy its potential once you have an account. The additional benefit of this is that you can also assign different users levels of access that suit their requirements. That removes the worry of anyone getting in and tinkering with figures, either by mistake or intention.
Kashoo is certainly up there with the competition if you’re looking for a simple-to-use cloud-based accountancy solution. SoftLedger is based on the principle of efficient validation and intelligent certification of invoice data. In addition, this software allows businesses to create and edit ledgers organized by different entities in a single place, eliminate human errors and save time.
I love that Kashoo offers live telephone support, a feature that’s been seriously underestimated by other applications. While Kashoo does include the necessary financial statements, the addition of sales reports would be helpful. Reports offer little in the way of customization, though they can be exported to Excel if customization is a necessity. The journal entry option has changed in Kashoo 2.0, with journal entries now being created by using the Add Adjustment screen. Get clear, concise answers to common business and software questions. The software connects to your bank and credit card accounts. When you reconcile your accounts, it simplifies the process by suggesting possible matches. Its mobile app for iPhones and iPads allows you to create and send invoices, snap pictures of receipts, and view reports on the go.
The other issue I have with the Kashoo 2.0 is its total reliance on bank connectivity. While there is an option to not connect your bank, almost all of the new features in Kashoo 2.0 rely on connectivity in order to function at full capacity. If you’re OK connecting your bank accounts, Kashoo may be a good option for you, but if you’re more comfortable managing your bank transactions yourself, you may want to look elsewhere. You can easily keep track of all of your clients and suppliers with this accounting software, and keep track of items or services you sell. Kashoo integrates with Sure Payroll, but keep in mind that if you’re paying multiple employees, you should be using a more robust accounting application such as QuickBooks Online or Sage 50. Lacking an estimates function is critical to all small service businesses – this is the biggest down fall of this package. Then, you add the cost of $27 a month or $30 month-to-month and Kashoo is now way above its competitors in pricing and features – I cannot justify this as a viable package for accounting.
The action menu along the left side of the screen lists tasks at the top so you can quickly get started with your accounting duties. In the middle it shows your lists for clients, suppliers, items, projects and accounts, followed by reports at the bottom of the menu.
