Lest I be misunderstood

I’ve been mulling over the last post and there is one insinuation that was unfair. I hinted that an employee of the District would fiddle with enrollment figures to make her boss’s life easier. I doubt, in this case, that that is true. I just thought of an explanation for our Census figures.

There is one age cohort that has grown substantially in Duluth over the past decade – college students. The growth is probably enough to make up for a lot of obituaries and departures of K-12 children, perhaps even 3,000 K-Twelvers. Its why there has been such a furor over parking in front yards. We are overrun with 18-23 year olds.

There is another thing from the last post which should be made clear. No one has ever claimed that my acquaintance’s successor was incapable of doing the job. If Dr. Dixon did, as I suggest, make life miserable for the previous employee because he favored a younger and more attractive job candidate that was not the candidate’s fault. This would only reflect on Dr. Dixon’s ethics and lack of fair play.
