My quick take on last night’s election results

I haven’t been able to kill the political junkie deep inside yet so I did listen with half an ear to a lot of last night’s election returns. I went to bed long before the entire results nation-wide were called. Oberstar was thought to be leading when I retired. This morning I found three emails from my personal gadfly, Vic.

Among them was this editorial by the Wall Street Journal which crows about President Obama being taught a lesson about overreach.

I think my short reply to Vic gives a pretty fair representation about the state of my politics today.

Vic,

It was an interesting election. I voted for Horner. Apparently enough folks like me did so to deprive Emmer victory. I didn’t vote for Cravaack or Oberstar but I’m not unhappy with the result. It made me chuckle.

Politics requires compromise but the Tea Party will punish anyone who dares to attempt this. The WSJ may enjoy beating up the “Pelosi Democrats” for uleashing pent up liberal big spending but what will it say about Tea Party Republicans attempting to undo FDR? With Rupert Murdoch running the show I expect the WSJ to continue being a pale shadow of Murdoch’s Fox News.
