A good Primary result

The most recent Trib story put Maureen Booth back in the race. Anyone can make a mistake.

Sarah Horner called me after the results came in. I told her the results did not surprise me. Tom Kasper broke far and away ahead of all the Red inks (Red Plan incumbents) He’ll do the same in the general election.

Nancy Nilsen a recent chair is closely associated with the Red Plan and did not do well. Maureen Booth was panned by the Trib and was not a familiar name. Because the lines of support are so stark – you are either for the Red Plan or agin it – that I think Maureen can count on most of the votes the mysterious Mr. Jensen got. That would give Maureen 4,254 to second place finisher Mary Cameron at 4,524. Maureen will show well. I saw her on WDIO’s quick intro of the four at large school board candidates and she is a natural on television. She knows just what to say although she should probably back off her spat with the Trib.

The Trib does have some explaining to do. They’ve portrayed Maureen as a crank but for Maureen was a valued member of their Citizen’s Board for a long while. I presume the Trib knows a person with smarts. I’d like to see them explain that away.

Laura Condon is the last of the incumbents who will be tested in the General Election. She had a pretty sorry headline attached to her recently and while many out west are glad to have preserved Denfeld they see the Red Plan as a sop for East Duluth. Those Easterners don’t want to let their kids play on PSS so much that in the name of “equity” they are going to cram a previously unadvertised stadium on the crackerbox Ordean site.

Equity should be about giving our impoverished students a leg up not giving “cake eaters” their own playground. And its time to revisit the division the Red Plan is foisting on Duluth. The Red Plan’s equity is a joke.

The Red Plan is dividing Duluth as nothing else has in my 35 years in Duluth. I heard about the sticker being placed on cars showing a Trojan (presumably from Central High) peeing on the little Red Paw that’s become a symbol for the East Greyhounds. Nice going Red Inks!
