Masochist me

I can’t resist posting this email from my Buddy and my reply although doing so interferes with my continuing attempt to whittle down my list of 20 priorities.

Harry:

From https://lincolndemocrat.com/?p=17425:

“Trust me, Psalm 119 was an uphill slog at 2,345 words.”

As I remember, in the movie, Amadeus, the emperor for whom Mozart was creating music, said, “too many notes”. Which reminds me of a recent PBS program about the succinct eloquence of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. Which reminds me of Strunk and White’s admonition to omit unnecessary words.

ARE YOU A MASOCHIST?

[your Buddy]

To which I replied:

Buddy,

A masochist? Yeah probably. That would explain the first 30 years I stuck with the Republican Party and my constant toying to return to it to play an unwelcome gadfly. I made up my mind to know as much about Christianiaty as all the darned PTL and Moral Majority crowd who thinned out the ranks of people like me. Now that I’m finally reading the Bible cover to cover there is a great implosion in the evangelical ranks which makes my “Bible Studies” less critical politically. The Millennials who will soon be taking over are trending atheist.
